In my opinion, first you should take care of the source whatever it will be: Node or rPi, or other hifi sources. If at the beginning of the path you do not have a good enough signal then further devices even from the top will not be fully used.

In IT, we often use the saying: Your hardware is as fast as its slowest part....so it also would be good to think about where in your system is the limit/weak point, and start from that point/device.
